Professional Development for Curriculum and 21st Century Learning (Team)
Throughout this course you have discussed the written, taught and tested curriculum, evaluated how curriculum can be differentiated for students with special needs, and explored how curriculum can be aligned to 21st century skills.
This week you will work with your team to discuss how the content in ISTE's Technology in Practice webinars can be used to support curriculum, and how administrators can engage teachers in meaningful professional development about the content covered in the webinars.
Four ISTE webinars have been selected that relate to curriculum and the development of 21st century skills:
Directions
(1) This week's team facilitator should create a new thread in the team forum titled Week 6: ISTE Webinars and PD. The facilitator should set up a process for how to divide up the webinars for individual review.
(2) Individually, review one webinar and be prepared to report back to your team. As you listen to the webinar, consider:
What are the main concepts highlighted in the webinar?
How can the concepts covered in the webinar support the written, taught and tested curriculum?
As an administrator, what kind of professional development or other support could you offer to engage teachers in learning about the topics reviewed in the webinar?
How might you use ISTE webinars or other similar approaches to professional development in your school or district?
(3) By Friday, provide a brief summary of the webinar, and responses to the above questions. Throughout the remainder of the week, continue to discuss with your team what you learned and gained from the ISTE webinars, and how they can be used to support professional development and curriculum in your school or district.
(4) This week's team reporter should provide a summary of the team discussion by Monday.
The discussion this week will help as you continue to discuss curriculum and professional development in Week 7.
